Morteza Mahjour

Morteza Mahjour, Chief Information & Operations Officer, is responsible for leading the day to day activities of the Technology and Operations organization within RBC. The mandate includes the alignment of Technology and Operations with RBC’s business strategies, outcomes and objectives to ensure continued focus on enabling leading advice and service for RBC clients that is backed by technological and operational excellence.

Morteza joined RBC Financial Group in 1985. After holding many different positions within Systems and Technology, he joined Action Direct (direct brokerage) in 1993 to start its Systems & Technology group. He assumed responsibility for back-office operations and trading for Action Direct in 1995, and in May 1998 he was appointed an executive of Royal Bank. In December 1999, Morteza assumed a position responsible for the technology direction and needs of the Canadian & International Brokerage Group, which included the four businesses of Action Direct, Private Client Division (Full Service Brokerage), RBC Investments Financial Planning, RBC Private Counsel. In September 2002, Morteza was promoted to Senior Vice President, Enterprise Information & Technology Services responsible for providing direction and leadership for enterprise architecture; data management; Client management technologies and project management disciplines and methodologies.

Returning to RBC Investments in May 2004, Morteza was appointed Senior Vice President, Head of RBC Investments Technology and became a member of the executive management team of RBC Information Technology. He was responsible for leading the development, delivery and support of new technology solutions serving Canadian Wealth Management Group, U.S. Wealth Management, Global Private Banking and Global Asset Management businesses. In September 2004, he was appointed Executive Vice President and Head of Applications, responsible for leading the global strategy and execution of applications development and maintenance for RBC.

Morteza received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree in 1984 from McGill University in Montreal. He is married and has twin boys.
