Professor Shivendu joined the Paul Merage School of Business in July 2008, as Assistant Professor of Information Systems. He is an accomplished researcher in the areas of economics of information systems, digital goods supply chain, forecasting and analytical modeling. His research focuses on the confluence of technology, economics and public policy. One of his early works (with Ramnath Chellappa) on personalization and privacy in online markets won the Best Paper Award in CIST 2003. Professor Shivendu has been published in the Information Systems Research Journal of Management Information Systems and Information Technology and Management. He is currently working on an article for Management Science and has several papers in progress in the areas of pricing and piracy of information goods, personalization and privacy in online markets and digital goods supply chain. A talented presenter and coach, Professor Shivendu has participated in numerous conferences
and workshops around the world.
Before moving to academia, Professor Shivendu worked in India as a member of the Indian Administrative Service for more than a decade in senior administrative and policy-making positions in the state and federal government. He is a nationally recognized expert in innovative health financing products including voucher schemes for maternity services and community based health insurance. He won wide acclaim in public policy arena in India for effective institutional reforms, e-governance initiatives and design of incentives for private provision of public goods including delivery of social services. Professor Shivendu holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southern California where he also earned his Master of Arts in Economics. Shivendu earned his Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management and his Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology.
