Ph.D. Columbia University

Dr. Mark's research focuses on the social and cognitive aspects of information technology use. Primarily focusing on computer-supported cooperative work, her interest is in investigating how technologies can meet the requirements of group work, especially across distance.

Current projects include: examining the effects of different computer media on task performance; the requirements for virtual collocation technologies, including awareness mechanisms; constructing a collaborative virtual environment to support an open-source software development community, and requirements assessment and usability evaluation of mobile technologies.

Dr. Mark has published on a number of topics including virtual collocation, groupware design, conventions for groupware use, distributed government, collaborative hypermedia authoring, and collaborative virtual environments.
